While it is nowhere near as powerful/capable as uBlock Origin, the (also free) Adguard for Safari does a perfectly admirable job at blocking most ads. I like uBlock (Origin) as much as the next guy, use it on FF all the time, and do miss it dearly in Safari 14, but the above is definitely not entirely correct. But until they face the realities of modern Internet, I'll stick what actually works. I'd love to be able to come back home to Safari. I hope the shrinking market share wakes up someone at Apple and they quit handicapping their own software and take a cue from Microsoft (how crazy is that MS is now more responsive to needs of their users than Apple?!). As an added benefit of using a Chromium-based browser, you can install SponsorBlock and get rid of another type of ads. According to their support ticket that I've filed, there's nothing they can do after I've tried all the suggestions.Īnother thing I've noticed is that Youtube is not providing video resolutions higher than 1080p to Safari. And I've tried every adblock list in Adguard. After close to a decade of using Safari exclusively, I've switched over to Chromium.
